Privacy & Security

Is Relephant safe to use?

At Relephant, the security of your data is our highest priority.

Other Relephant users can't see your data in Relephant, unless you share links.

Like most online services, we have a small number of employees who must be able to access user data for the reasons stated in our privacy policy (e.g., when legally required to do so). But that's the rare exception, not the rule. We have strict policy and technical access controls that prohibit employee access except in these rare circumstances.

Relephant users can access their data at any time through the desktop, web, and mobile clients, or through applications connected to Relephant. All of these clients connect to secure servers to provide access, allow sharing with others, and update linked devices when data is added, changed, or deleted.

  • Data at rest is encrypted using 256-bit Advanced Encryption Standard (AES)
  • Relephant uses Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)/Transport Layer Security (TLS) to protect data in transit between Relephant apps and our servers
  • SSL/TSL creates a secure tunnel protected by 128-bit or higher Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) encryption
  • Public data is only viewable by people who have a link to that data (e.g. a screenshot bookmark link)
Who can see the data in my Relephant account?

All data you store in Relephant is private. Other people can't access that data unless you purposely share links with others.

Like most major online services, Relephant personnel will, on rare occasions, need to access users’ file content (1) when legally required to do so; (2) when necessary to ensure that our systems and features are working as designed (e.g., debugging performance issues, making sure that our search functionality is returning relevant results, developing image search functionality, refining content suggestions, etc.); or (3) to enforce our Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy.

Access to users’ file content is limited to a small number of people. We have strict policy and technical access controls that prohibit access to file content except in these rare circumstances.
